Nashik | October 9: The Nashik District Collectorate and Municipal Corporation have sanctioned an integrated ₹450-crore transit infrastructure masterplan for the Tapovan sector ahead of the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela. The comprehensive blueprint focuses on streamlining pedestrian circulation, emergency access paths, and temporary utility networks.
Pedestrian Corridors and Holding Areas Under the approved infrastructure program, broad arterial roads connecting Tapovan to the Godavari riverbanks will be paved with permeable eco-blocks to avert monsoon waterlogging. The layout includes eight decentralized pilgrim transit holding zones equipped with automated public address modules, high-capacity drinking water treatment kiosks, and temporary primary care dispensaries.
Coordination with Traffic Police Nashik City Police and civic planners have integrated the transit hub directly with the proposed satellite bus terminals on the city’s outskirts. Dedicated non-motorized zones will ensure that pilgrims visiting the sacred bathing ghats can commute smoothly without vehicular bottlenecks. Ground engineering works are scheduled to begin next month.
