Chennai | October 9: Domestic retail sales of electric passenger vehicles surged significantly over the past month, with total deliveries crossing 35,000 units nationwide. Domestic automakers led the charge with high-volume compact SUVs, while legacy international brands expanded customer inquiries across new crossover hybrid and electric nameplates.
Expanding Fast-Charging Infrastructure Automotive market analysts attribute the sustained demand to improved real-world driving ranges, zero tailpipe emission awareness, and the aggressive expansion of fast DC charging networks along major state and national expressways. Favorable corporate vehicle tax benefits and specialized festive financing interest rates have also stimulated retail consumer bookings.
Supply Chains and Wait Periods Dealership networks in tier-1 and tier-2 markets report manageable vehicle delivery wait times of two to four weeks for popular trims. Automakers have adjusted quarterly production targets upward to maintain inventory flows throughout the festive delivery schedule.
