Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh visited the historic Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hills in Mysuru on Tuesday, offering prayers and participating in a traditional puja ceremony.
Dressed in a pristine white kurta-pyjama paired with a black Nehru jacket, the actor received a traditional welcome from the temple priests, who presented him with a garland and prasadam.
Interestingly, this temple visit follows a major legal relief for the actor, coming just days after the Karnataka High Court dismissed a petition that had challenged a lower court’s decision regarding a controversial 2022 photoshoot.
The Legal Context Behind the Visit
The controversy traces back to a July 2022 magazine photoshoot featuring the actor. Following its release, a private complaint was lodged in Mumbai, leading to an FIR under Sections 292, 293, and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with relevant sections of the Information Technology Act. Ranveer Singh subsequently approached the High Court to have the case quashed.
- April Dismissal: The Karnataka High Court formally threw out the petition filed by a local outfit that sought to challenge a lower court’s refusal to launch a separate probe into the matter.
- Court’s Stance: The High Court dismissed the matter on technical grounds, noting that a similar case was already being actively processed by a Mumbai court.
Enforcement Directorate Clears “Cirkus” Investments
In a separate legal breakthrough for the actor, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) recently wrapped up its financial probe into the funding of his December 2022 film Cirkus.
The central agency’s investigation, which was launched under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in August 2022, found absolutely no financial irregularities.
Key Details from the ED Investigation:
- The Allegations: The inquiry originally began after a whistleblower alleged that unaccounted and illicit cash had been funneled into the movie’s production budget.
- The Findings: Following an in-depth financial audit, the ED concluded that all investments into the movie were thoroughly transparent, lawful, and fully compliant with banking regulations.
- Official Closure: The ED has officially submitted its final closure report to a special PMLA court, effectively exonerating the film’s production team and stakeholders from any wrongdoing.
Statement from the Actor’s Representation
Following the clean chit from the federal agency, a legal representative for Ranveer Singh released an official statement to clarify the situation and reinforce the actor’s professional integrity.
“Ranveer Singh has the utmost respect for the judiciary and the nation’s law enforcement agencies. Throughout these procedures, he extended complete cooperation to the investigators, confident that his professional engagements have always adhered strictly to legal and ethical frameworks.”
The statement further emphasized that the actor remains fully focused on his upcoming cinematic ventures, putting these legal hurdles firmly behind him.
