Auqib Nabi has been added to the India squad for their first three ODIs against New Zealand, expanding his role for the upcoming series.

Squad Update and Prasidh Krishna’s Replacement

The right-arm fast bowler was initially named in the squad for the fourth and fifth matches of the tour. His inclusion for the opening games comes a day after Prasidh Krishna was ruled out of the entire ODI series to focus on his recovery from a left hamstring injury. Krishna sustained the injury during the second ODI against West Indies in September, a match that marked Nabi’s sole international appearance for India, where he registered bowling figures of 0 for 84 across ten overs. The Board of Control for Cricket in India stated that Krishna requires additional time to build his workload, though he is expected to join the India A squad for the third unofficial Test to gain match practice ahead of the Test series. Nabi is currently in New Zealand with the India A red-ball team, having claimed six wickets in the first unofficial Test against New Zealand A.
